At the end of 1891, the painter Darío de Regoyos lived in San Sebastián, in Hernani Street, no.1. He decided to make an artistic trip to Zaragoza in order to paint themes related to his series La España Negra, and deported from there for the first time to Albarracín and Teruel.
He visited the Santiago Church (it was built between 1600 and 1626) in Albarracin, where he carried out the previous work, being titled and signed at the bottom right.
Regoyos gave priority to capture the contrast between light light and shadow, as well as vaults and archs’ texture. He accomplished it in a masterful way, including the Virgin’s veneration altar. This theme was connected to his social-religious sensitivity.€15,000.00
