    "Pastoral scene" Tapestry made of wool and silk in the workshop of Urban Leyniers (1674-1747) and Daniel Leyniers (1669-1728). Carton of Ignace de Hondt (1712-1734) following painting by David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) Size: 306 x 287 cm (folded at the bottom and top) / Unfolded: 360 x 310 cm approx. It reproduces an idyllic vision of life in the countryside, with a central scene where a group of peasants appears talking while they take care of their animals in the shade of large trees. This type of tapestries had great success throughout Europe until the end of the 18th century. The weavers in Brussels turned to famous cardboard painters, such as Jean van Orley, Augustin Coppens or Ignace de Hondt. Provenance: Important private collection.
